Something from the Science Fair

Not only do the physics of sound demonstrate God’s great omnipotence and creative ability, but He uses sound as an integral part of our relationship with Him. He has made us to worship Him with sound, He listens to our cries for help, and in future we will be able to hear the sound of His mighty voice.
Here are some examples straight from God’s Word:

He hears our prayers and we sing to Him in praise!
Psalm 30:10 & 12, “Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper! To that end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.”

His voice is powerful and mighty.
Psalm 29:3-4, “The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.”
Job 37: 4 & 5, “After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, and He does not restrain them when His voice is heard. God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.”

We will know He is coming because of the sound of the trumpet.
1st Thessalonians 4:16, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”

We tell others about Him through the sound of our words.
Romans 10:14, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”

Around His throne are many sounds of rumblings and praises.
Revelation 4:5a & 8, “And from the throne proceed lightnings, thunderings, and voices. The four living creatures…do not rest day or night saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!’”

Let us join our sound in praising the great God of the universe who uses the sound He has created to make Himself known to us.

Unleash His Majesty

More from Voice of the Martyrs. I think this will be my last one for awhile.

"[A certain man] is in his mid-40's and of modest means. Like most North Koreans, he grew up believing that Christianity was evil and that missionaries kill people to harvest their organs. He also believed that the Bible speaks only of evil and that it should never be read or owned."

"The official religion, or ideology, of North Korea is called Juche. Created by Kim Il-Sung, the founder of modern North Korea, Juche teaches self-reliance and that man is the master of everything. It is a theology that holds the country's founders as divine god-kings, forcing North Koreans to worship Kim Il-Sung and he son Kim Jung-Il."

During the great famine in North Korea in the 1990's, [this certain man] escaped to China to get food. He was fed by Christians who sent him back with food AND Bibles. He was afraid of these "evil books", but as he read the Bible the fear went away and he gave his life to Christ.
Soon after, his former friend and neighbor found out he was hiding six Bibles. He was reported to the officials. He told his wife to burn the Bibles. He denied the charges, she burned the Bibles, for 29 days "they beat and kicked him" even though they did not find any Bibles.
He now smuggles Bibles from China yearly. Although, he currently keeps them buried in the ground, he is choosing to risk his life every time he goes on one of these missions.

"Christians in North Korea often escape to China to study the Bible. They attend underground Bible schools and sometimes are willing to smuggle a Bible or other Christian literature back into North Korea."

"One woman who was deported to North Korea had committed the 'special sin' of wearing a cross. While others caught with her received a three-month sentence, she was sent from the labor camp and never heard from again."

"Recently, the Chinese government returned a group of 40 people to North Korea. When the Chinese handed them over, they told North Korean authorities that the people had been discovered at a secret church service. [...] Along with three others, the young man who loved basketball had confessed he was a Christian and refused to deny his faith. [...] [He] and the others who refused to deny their faith were shot to death the same day."

"Another example of North Korean martyrdom is a father and daughter who were caught leading a small church group of about eight people. They were arrested and publicly buried alive.
When [the writer] asked the woman to share the names of the martyrs, she cried, saying, 'I can't tell you. They have family still alive in North Korea.
It is difficult for Westerners to comprehend, but Christianity is so dangerous in North Korea that even Christians who die cannot be mentioned."

An effective way to smuggle the Bible is -- MEMORIZATION!!! (Are you doing it?!)
"When they hold secret church meetings, they are able to quote scripture without the danger of having a Bible at the meeting. Even so, if someone catches them speaking God's Word, they face imprisonment or death."

"Testimonies gathered by Christian workers indicate that North Koreans who evangelize have a life expectancy of about three months."

"[This man] knows that to declare his Christian faith publicly in North Korea is to die. And he knows that he risks death if he gives a Bible to another person and is betrayed to authorities. Having taken extreme risks and been betrayed once already, [this man] is not yet ready to face that consequence. For now, the Bibles remain buried but not forgotten. When [he] is ready, he will dig up the Bibles, give them to others and tell them -- as he was told years earlier -- 'If you read this book, you will find truth.'"

Smell the Breath of the Wolf

Again, I am taking from Voice of the Martyrs. If I am infringing on their copyright TELL ME. (I just read the March issue. I was greatly impacted. You are surprised, I know.)

Just to think on:

"Jesus allows His sheep to smell the breath of the wolf so that they will bleat out the name of their Shepherd and depend on Him. The enemies of Christianity in the nations where we serve accuse new converts in their country of adopting the 'American religion.' Although Jesus' teachings and the scriptures come from the Middle East, the majority of Bibles circulating in hostile or restricted areas are financed by American Christians. These Bibles are not financed or distributed by religious people; they are spread by followers of Jesus, who believe their King will return for them. Transformed believers in captive nations do not persuade their friends and enemies to change religions or follow new moral code; they unleash the majesty of Jesus by sharing how He has made them a new creature. Many of these witnesses of His majestic work have been forced to give up their families, culture, and things they hold dear in order to cling to the pearl of great price. The writer of Hebrews 12:27-29 refers to the removal of things that are being shaken so that unshakable things may remain. The writer proclaims that in this process we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Are we willing to endure rejection, to have our world 'all shook up,' confessing him with our mouth? However we proclaim His name, in our joy or in moments of anguish, He is our focus. Jesus wants us to focus on His unshakable, unmovable kingdom no matter what the cost. [...] Share with someone today what Jesus has done in your life. Unleash His majesty. Lift HIM up."

**I added the capital "h's" refering to Jesus/God in the pronouns.**

My Response to the N. Korean

How can I change?! Where do I even START?!

Oh weak one!

Lack of discipline is a delight to the devil. Either he can choose to confuse and tangle me up in my disorganization and/or he will be delighted to leave me alone because I will never be productive enough to be a threat.

Judgment day is coming. What am I doing to prepare? I want my Lord to be well pleased. I want to see His smile. I don't want to be ashamed of my stewardship. I want to be blameless before Him. I want to say that I fought the good fight when I finish the race.

Training has to start. I have got to beat this body, mind, rebllious spirit into obedience to the CROSS of Christ. That is my death.

We -- the American Church (real saved ones) -- are in the Body of Christ (worldwide) -- what are we PERSONALLY doing to prevent ourselves from being the shrivelled up arm that dangles limply off the body?

What am I doing for my Jesus??

(Don't look at my task list -- look at the motivation in my SOUL.)

Lose my life NOW so I do not lose it eternally.

Words from a North Korean

I copied these words from a video on www.persecution.com/newsletter. If I am disobeying copyright laws, I don't mean to be. Go there and watch the video yourself. I didn't copy them all. There are other videos there that are profitable as well, but I wanted to look at my soul in light of this man's example. Maybe you would like to join me?

"Then Jesus found me. Christ's love has completely changed me. [...] and now I risk my life as one of the prayer members, preaching His name to those around me."

Really?! Do I believe that? Do I see that? HAS Christ's love COMPLETELY changed me? Yes it has. Do I live like it? Do I BREATHE it and MEDITATE on it? Do I believe it so much that I tell others? That I live through ALL things with joy and praises for Him, my love?

"Risk my life" -- do I? Do I even risk my COMFORT??
"As one of the PRAYER MEMBERS" -- I love that identity he has given to himself in the Body of Christ. I do not meet that position.
"PREACHING His name." -- I am so puzzled as to what that means. I do preach it in my classroom. But what about to the parents? What about to the small group? What about to the people I see passing me on the road, at the grocery store, at Starbucks, etc.??? They may not be on the side of the road and STARVING (as they are in North Korea and else where), but they are going to HELL.

"Your gift of food has strengthed me and I will use that strength to preach that Christ is our Savior."

AHH! I have SO much food. Am I eating so much that I am getting fatter? Am I eating enough and then using that strength to "preach Christ as Savior"? I use that energy for my own gain. I use food for myself. Disgust and excessive. How thankful is he and how thankful am I? With much blessing must ABOUND thanksgiving.

"Without Christ, life is not worth living.
This is why we will continue to risk our lives to preach His name."

Again, I question this reality in my mind. How do I live it out?!
I would (truly) say, YES SO TRUE! I hate thinking about life without Him -- without the guidance and comfort of the Holy Spirit; without His strength, without the hope of heaven.
BUT! Do I live dependent on Him? Do I live for His purposes alone? Do I focus my mind and hopes on HIM?
No, so often I just want to live "MY" life MY way with Him as a comfort.
That is not the Christian life. That is not loving God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. That is being rebellious and disobedient. That is being a pagan.

"As you continue to strengthen our church, we will do our part to use that strength to further Christ's love for the North Korean people."

What am I doing to strengthen other parts of the Body of Christ?
What am I doing WITH the strength I have received for the lost, wearied, saved souls around me? --More often, I am spending it on myself.

"I appreciate you and want to thank you so much."

Thank us FOR WHAT?! We may supply food and resources, perhaps some will provide prayer support, but how are we even WORTHY to be thanked in light of the way our lives are lived when we have SUCH comforts and delights?! (I speak of the majority, not of the minority who are worthy of thanks.)

"For the future of this country I will persevere until His will is accomplished and His love has triumphed. I wish all of you good health, dear supporters."

He is concerned for his COUNTRY. Am I? --I just give them over to God's sovereignty. "Whatever will be, will be." And I live in a democracy.

"until His will is accomplished" -- He is living in NORTH KOREA and he recognizes this as God's will without any bitterness or complaints (at this moment, in this letter, of course he is a real human being. I am sure he has days of being confused and sorrowful).
Am I chasing doggedly after beating my body to be disciplined enough to obey UNTIL God's will is accomplished?
(Not even thinking about "finding God's will for my life," but obeying with what He has given NOW until He moves me on to other things -- like His millenial reign or my death and union with Him.)

"until...His love has triumphed" -- WOW! Let me focus on that. Let me be a part of that battle. Let His LOVE TRIUMPH in my soul, in my fellow laborers' souls, in this country, and in the world. May the heavenly hosts and powers in the heavenlies see this and give glory to Jesus; the Lamb who is WORTHY!

"I wish all of you good health, dear supporters."

Oh yes, my friend, we have good health. We have doctors. We have food. We have medicine. We have blankets. We have band-aids. We have barf-buckets. We do have pains. We do have hurts. But we have the opportunity to comfort those pains.
A sincere wish for health that is a delight, but we take it so much for granted (until we get sick).

What are we doing with our good health?

I am always saying that I rarely get sick. So what am I doing with this healthy body?! Am I training myself to be disciplined and diligent so I can be free to serve God as He would call and command? Am I actually a soldier who does not distract herself with things from this world?
Yeah right. I rebel against discipline.

Originally for Small Group

Okay, here we go:

GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND READ YOUR BIBLE!!!

I speak to myself as well.

This about this:
We actually can just WHIP it OUT in PUBLIC!
What a HUGE stewardship the Lord has given to us and we are WASTING it.
We will be judged.

We actually have the real, TRUTH of God's WORD and we don't reverence it.
We read it any where, whenever we can "fit it in", we put other things on TOP of it, (I) smoosh it into bags, we set it on the ground -- how do non-Christians perceive this?
I was reading a Muslim website (yes, they are VERY strict about how they treat the Koran and how they pray, etc) and they are DISGUSTED at how "Christians" treat (what WE tout as) God's Word. They can't believe it's actually God's Word because of how we treat it. They are puzzled as to why they are not saved (when they are so reverent and religious) and we seem so complacent and uncaring. (Only through Jesus, but we need to have an excellent testimony.)
CARE for GOD'S WORD!!

**To edit -- I do NOT mean we should treat God's Word as the Muslims and/or live as the Muslims -- I am only saying do our actions reflect how we TALK about the Bible? If we SAY that He is the ONE and ONLY, TRUE and HOLY God, how are we treating His Word?! I use the Muslims to SAY -- a thing that is false they care for and pay attention to and devote themselves to study. We neglect God's Word (the ONLY Truth) and say that it's good enough to read tomorrow, if we have time. We smoosh it under other books because it's just God's Word and we can get another copy at our nearest Target. Bleck. SO! I just used Muslims as a tool for a type of INSPECTION; NOT suggesting that we should conduct ourselves in the same manner.**

God's Word is our SWORD!
First -- you need to be fighting your sin. If you aren't fighting any sin -- YOU STINK!! And need to check out what's happening in your soul. (Truly. Ask yourself, "Am I saved?!?!!")
Second -- if you don't come prepared with God's Word to FIGHT that means YOU are NOT PREPARED!!!!
Jesus' mind was always steady and sure even under the GREATEST of pressures -- (i.e. full-on temptation from Satan without any earthly support of food or home comforts, little sleep, dealing with CROWDS of people constantly, and then the CROSS -- sin wearing Him DOWN.) If Jesus (GOD in bodily form) chose to quote Scripture in the midst of temptation -- if He was always ready with verses to quote to others -- if He was clinging to the truth that God's will MUST be obeyed -- BY GUM!! We better make sure we are clinging to it too!!

Do you feel like you aren't doing much for the Lord?
--How well do you know God's Word?
--How much do you pray?
--What do you pray?
--Are you serving others?
--Are you confessing your sin?

DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE!!!
(I say this to myself.)
